Emergency Financing for Locust Affected Countries will help people recover from losses.
Washington, May 21, 2020 — The World Bank announced today US$6 million in new funding from the International Development Association (IDA), the World Bank’s arm for the poorest countries, to help Djibouti address the threat posed by the locust outbreak and strengthen its preparedness systems. The financing is part of the Emergency Locust Response Program, a regional operation focusing on helping farmers, pastoralists and rural households recover from the impacts of the largest locust plagues in decades.
