Bavarian Bioeconomy Strategy adopted

Shaping the transformation in a sustainable and innovative way - this was the model under which the Minister for Economic Affairs Hubert Aiwanger presented the Bavarian Bioeconomy Strategy. With the strategy, the Bavarian State Government is presenting a concept for promoting a bio-based, sustainable economy.

European Bioeconomy University brings together bioeconomy studies from different sectors

The European Bioeconomy University (EBU) seeks to develop a mechanism to enhance bioeconomy students’ cross-sectoral mindset. Thanks to a shared platform for online learning and study tours, students will be able to include in their studies courses offered by all EBU member universities. This line of collaboration seeks to improve students’ cross-sectoral understanding of research subjects and business activities. Successful completion of the study module will be recognised with a certificate issued by the EBU.

 
Energy: Italian ENEA coordinated national cluster reaches 75 associates

The objective of the National Energy Technology Cluster (CTN) which, in its fourth year of life, has reached 75 associates, is studying, developing and transferring innovative technologies, devices, products and services to strengthen sustainability and competitiveness of Italian companies in the energy sectors of greatest interest, involving public and private stakeholders.

 
14th Joint Call for Research and Development Proposals of the ERA-NET Bioenergy: "Development and improvement of biomass conversion technologies for the provisioning of heat for industrial processes"

This call aims to support innovative, collaborative pan-European, R&D&I projects, which should contribute to safe, environmentally friendly, reliable and economical bioenergy production. The focus is on technology readiness levels 2-7 (at the end of the funded project). The projects should address new implementation pathways supporting decarbonisation of industry and demonstration of best practice examples. Furthermore, the linkage to circular economy especially in industry sectors has to be stressed more, e.g. by using biomass based waste as fuel or feedstock.

For Eastern Africa, an innovation-driven bioeconomy is seen as a viable pathway towards achieving the Sustainable Development Goals 2030, and a significant contributor towards the African Union’s Agenda 2063 of a knowledge-based, innovation-led African economy.
