Takeaways of Symposium on “Managing the Green Transition”

On 23 October 2020 the online symposium on “Managing the Green Transition”, organised by the EC Competence Centre on Behavioural Insights took place. The symposium addressed policymakers and behavioural scientists, and discussed learnings from the Covid-19 pandemic for the climate crisis with a focus on the individual behavioural level.

After the adoption of a new EU Biodiversity Strategy for 2030 in May, Green Week will highlight the contribution biodiversity can make to society and the economy, and the role it can play in supporting and stimulating recovery in a post-pandemic world, bringing jobs and sustainable growth.

EU tops up fisheries fund by €500 million to help recovery

The additional funding is part of the Recovery Package and follows earlier EU support measures to alleviate the immediate socio-economic impact on the sector. The Commission will work closely with EU countries to ensure that the additional funding contributes to a swift recovery, in line with the European Green Deal and the ambitions of the common fisheries policy.

 
BBI JU launches 22 projects to support green recovery of Europe

The Bio-based Industries Joint Undertaking (BBI JU) has signed grant agreements with the projects selected for funding under the 2019 Call for proposals. The 22 new projects will receive financial support worth €106 million and bring the total of BBI JU grants to 123. 218 beneficiaries from 27 EU Member States and associated countries will take part in the projects.
