Gender equality

The goal of these seminars is to learn about new ideas and research on BI in a wide range of topics. We will start with a presentation by Prof. Natalia Montinari (U. Bologna) about the persistent gender pay gap that we observe in many different settings. Other topics that will be covered by various speakers are Misinformation, Environment, Artificial Intelligence, Migration, and Education. The seminar agenda is available here.

The European Commission and the High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy today proposed the basis for a new strategy with Africa. The communication sets out proposals to intensify cooperation through partnerships in five key areas: green transition; digital transformation; sustainable growth and jobs; peace and governance; and migration and mobility. Based on this document, Europe will engage discussions with African partners towards a new joint strategy to be endorsed at the European Union – African Union Summit in October 2020.

The Population Association of America’s annual meeting is a premier conference of demographers and social and health scientists from the United States and abroad. Here senior, mid- and early-career demographers are afforded the opportunity to present their research in oral and poster sessions, hear of others’ findings, and network with their peers. Since PAA’s first conference in 1930, much important research has been presented on topics ranging from migration to sexual reproductive health to race and gender issues.

PARIS21, in collaboration with Senegal’s Agence Nationale de Statistique et de la Démographie (ANSD), recently organised a joint workshop on PARIS21’s Advanced Data Planning Tool (ADAPT) and gender statistics project in Dakar, Senegal.
