Ocean acidification is the phenomenon in which oceans are becoming more acidic, as they continue to absorb more and more of carbon in the atmosphere, which is increasing due to human-produced emissions. Ahead of the December Council meeting on Fisheries, the Commission has adopted its proposal for fishing opportunities in 2020 for 72 stocks in the Atlantic and the North Sea.
