Better catalysts for a sustainable bioeconomy

Researchers at the Paul Scherrer Institute PSI and from ETH Zurich want to make so-called zeolites more efficient. The classic zeolites, they assert, would even have the potential to make a bioeconomy based on renewable resources possible.

 
Carbon dioxide as a raw material for the chemical industry – seeking a climate-friendly and economically viable industrial concept

VTT and its business partners have launched a two-year project to develop a concept for a process to capture and utilise carbon dioxide. The aim is to utilise the carbon dioxide produced during bioenergy production as a raw material for speciality chemicals. As certain end products have a long lifecycle, the concept may even lead to negative emissions, that is, products that act as carbon sinks.
