EuropeAid's first Charity Art Auction

EuropeAid, the European Commission Cooperation's office, is organising its very first Charity Art Auction on Thursday, 1 July 2010 at 5 pm. There will be 13 art pieces related to development on sale and the money raised will be given to a development NGO supporting street children in Nepal.

Since 2002, La Galleria run by EuropeAid, has allowed 88 artists coming from developing countries or closely related to them to exhibit their paintings, sculptures and photography. This beautiful initiative lets all of us look at issues related to development from a slightly different, artistic perspective. Each time a new exhibition in the La Galleria takes place, the artist donates one piece of art for charity. This year, we decided to give you a unique opportunity to buy this art for your own collection.

As on the day of auction, there are no World Cup matches you can easily join this noble event and enjoy a summer outdoor party atmosphere with the performance of EuropeAid's band, drinks and snacks. The money raised will be donated to Child Protection Centres and Services, a development NGO supporting shelter and rehabilitation projects for street children in Nepal, via the Europe-Third-World's trainees "Solidarity committee".

If you would like to attend but do not have an access card to the EU institutions, you need to register by sending an email to Anna Biernat and present an ID card to enter the building.
