Earthquake in Haïti: EU aid for reconstruction
Haïti has once again brought into the spotlight the plight of developing countries.
Development is about long term progress with partners like Haïti.
Europe was there from day one of the disaster with the relief effort of the European Commission Humanitarian Office (ECHO).
Europe will also be there long after the cameras leave for the longer term reconstruction effort and re-development.
We know development is matters to people across Europe. Look at the reaction
to the earthquake.
I want this website to be my way of telling you the story of development over
the course of my mandate as European Commissioner.
Not just the story from Haïti, but also the EU's other work across the
world.
