2024 report on European judicial training (06/03/2025)

The report measures the participation of targeted justice professionals in training activities on EU law, non-legal skills and language skills in 2023. This thirteenth report continues to show the overall good progresses achieved towards the objectives set by the European judicial training strategy. However, in many professions, there was a decrease in the number of relevant training activities. We wish you a fruitful reading!

Launch of FRA’s annual civic space consultation (05/03/2025)

FRA invites views from all civic society organisations working in an EU Member State or in Serbia, Albania and North Macedonia or at the EU level for its annual civic space consultation. The consultation aims to capture the experience of civil society regarding the challenges they face in their day-to-day work, as well as gather suggestions on possible ways forward. The EEA and Norway Grants are now accepting proposals from Fund Operators to manage the new EEA Civil Society Fund across 13 of the Grants’ Beneficiary States. CSOs and private institutions, independent of local, regional and central government, as well as political parties and religious institutions and with a proven track record in supporting democracy, human rights and civic engagement, are encouraged to apply.

Joint EU-CoE child-friendly justice project (20/09/2024)

Discover more about an interesting project on child-friendly Justice, co-funded by the Justice programme and the Council of Europe. It aims at improving the protection of children in contact with the law by testing and finalising a child-friendly justice assessment tool which will help the Member States meeting European standards on children’s rights before, during and after judicial proceedings.

European Citizens' Panel to discuss Tackling Hatred in Society (26/04/2024)

5 April marked the start of the European Citizens' Panel on Tackling Hatred in Society (co-funded by the CERV programme). 150 citizens, selected at random from all 27 Member States, came together to look at the root causes of hatred and ways to address them. The aim of this Citizens' Panel is to produce recommendations on how to build bridges across fractured groups and communities.

CFJ-EN – First Child Justice Caravan meeting (26/04/2024)

The Caravan is an initiative proposed by the Child-Friendly Justice European Network (CFJ-EN), one of the framework partners of the CERV programme, to allow children and young people to visit European institutions, meet with key representatives and become advocates for change in european justice systems. Last December the Caravan made a stop at the European Commission and at the EU Parliament and had a meeting with UNICEF and the Ombudsperson for children of the Francophone Belgian Community. European Remembrance Symposium (26/04/2024)

The European Network Remembrance and Solidarity (framework partner of the CERV programme) invites you to register to their annual European Symposium which will take place in Warsaw on 21-24 May. The goal of the Symposium is to exchange experiences and establish methods and forms of cooperation between institutions from different countries.

Under the Single Market Programme, there is a new call for proposals for training judges in EU competition law. We are looking to co-finance projects which can increase the knowledge and know-how of national judges in the context of enforcing European competition rules. This includes public and private enforcement of both the Antitrust rules and the State aid rules. The call is already open (deadline to apply: 6 March 2024).

A thriving civic space for upholding fundamental rights in the EU: a framework for future action (01/12/2023)

How? By funding, for instance, a project led by RURENER, a European network of nearly 700 rural communities engaged in the energy transition. Under the 2021 Network of Towns Call for proposals, RURENER initiated a two-year project to build a Rural Resilience Roadmap and to find solutions to perform the transition in rural Europe. Europe Day 2023: celebrating European unity and solidarity thanks also to EU funds (12/05/2023)

On 9th May, we commemorated the anniversary of the historic 'Schuman Declaration' that set out the idea for a new form of political cooperation in Europe and paved the way of what is now the European Union. The CERV and Justice programmes firmly advocate for the European Union values arisen from the Schuman declaration and enshrined in the EU Treaties and the Charter of Fundamental Rights. Upcoming opportunity for joining the Group of Experts advising on judicial online training (12/05/2023)

DG Justice recently launched a project for the development of 40 training e-Capsules on EU law over 2023-2024, which will be undertaken by a partnership between ICF and the European Institute of Public Administration (EIPA). A Call for applications for a Group of Experts to support the design and development of training e-Capsules in EU Law will be launched soon in May.

The participation of citizens in the discussion of EU policies is crucial to guarantee that policies and decisions align with the needs and aspirations of the public. The Call for proposals to foster citizens’ engagement and participation (CERV-2023-CITIZENS-CIV) aims to tackle this very aspect by providing opportunities for citizens to engage in events, acquire knowledge about EU policies and interact with fellow citizens to discuss Union’s actions. SCORE is a project funded through the CERV-2021-CITIZENS-TOWN call. The overall objective of the project is the creation of a coalition of European cities and local authorities for the promotion of inclusive sport, as well as the prevention and fight against racism, xenophobia and related intolerance in the field of sport.
