Meet the great champions with the project “Sporting Cities Opposing Racism in Europe" (SCORE)

SCORE is a project funded through the CERV-2021-CITIZENS-TOWN call. The overall objective of the project is the creation of a coalition of European cities and local authorities for the promotion of inclusive sport, as well as the prevention and fight against racism, xenophobia and related intolerance in the field of sport.

date:  11/05/2023

Why this initiative is so relevant?

Despite the efforts made by EU Member States, discrimination based on race and xenophobia, is spreading in European societies, targeting especially people with a migrant background, asylum seekers and refugees, and ethnic and religious minorities. In this context, towns and municipalities are joining forces to create territories of intercultural coexistence and social cohesion.

This year, on the international Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination, SCORE launched an interactive map that identifies all the sport initiatives aiming to fight racism across Europe and beyond.

Do you want to learn more about SCORE? Check their website and sign up for the online capacity building workshop on “sport as an instrument in the fight against racism” open to civil society organisations (CSOs) and research institutions that will take place on 17 May from 10 am to 12.30 pm.
