Eric Bartelsman

Professor, Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam.

Eric Bartelsman is currently professor of economics at the Vrije Universiteit in Amsterdam. Previously he served as an economist at the Federal Reserve Board in Washington DC, as an advisor to the CPB, in the Netherlands, and as head of the economic research department at the Ministry of Economic Affairs in the Netherlands.

Mr. Bartelsman is a Fellow of the Tinbergen Institute, and a consortium partner in the EU 6th Framework program EU KLEMS. In 2007, he was appointed member of the Netherlands Council of Economic Advisors (REA), and became a research fellow of the Institute for the Study of Labour (IZA).

His research interests focus on the sources of productivity growth, both from a micro and macro point of view. His recent work is on international comparisons of productivity and resource reallocation at the firm-level.

He studied economics at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and received his PhD from Columbia University.
