IMI is now ensuring the proper implementation of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), providing multilingual online information exchange functions for European Institutions and National Data Protection Supervisory authorities.
The use of IMI is steadily increasing: by December 2017, the total number of information exchanges sent through IMI had exceeded 100,000. In 2017 alone nearly 34,000 requests were sent, involving more than 8,200 registered authorities.

On 23 January 2014 we sent out the latest IMI newsletter which gives an update on all the progress made over the course of 2013.
Only registered users can access the Internal Market Information System (IMI).
