Available indicators 

The following information is available in the database:

Eurostat also publishes an annual calculation of transport performance over the national airspace of each reporting country.

Data sources and frequency

Monthly data for airports handling more than 150 000 passenger units per year are transmitted to Eurostat by the 27 EU countries as well as 3 European Free Trade Association (EFTA) countries and 5 candidate countries (Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro, North Macedonia, Serbia, and Türkiye). 

Data releases

Data collected based on EU legislation: Monthly data are published no later than 7 months after the end of a reference month. Final annual data are published no later than 11 months after the end of a reference year. 

Tables in the database are updated twice per month to provide the newest data transmitted by countries.

Data collected not based on EU legislation: Monthly data on the number of commercial flights from Eurocontrol are published 10 days after the end of a reference month. Annual data on the air fleet from a commercial database are published approximately 6 months after the end of a reference year. 

Data from voluntary questionnaires: Annual statistics on airport infrastructure are published approximately after 18 months after the end of a reference year.
