EU Council presidency high-level meetings
About
High-level meetings on EU statistics, under the presidency of the Council of the EU, have been taking place since 2020.
They are co-organised by the national statistical institute (NSI) of the EU country, which holds the presidency of the Council of the EU, and by Eurostat. The attendance is restricted to Directors-General / Presidents of NSIs. Depending on the topic, external speakers and stakeholders may also be invited.
The first high-level meeting took place in November 2020 during the German presidency on the topic of ESS communication and governance in a time of crisis.
Aim
High-level meetings are held to discuss strategic topics of the European Statistical System (ESS) in line with the political priorities of the Council presidency.
They are hosted by the NSI from the country which holds the presidency of the Council of the EU.
The last high-level meeting about integration and interoperability strategies for the modernisation of official statistics took place on 27 and 28 November in Seville, Spain.
