A million voices can make a difference


2013 is the European Year of Citizens, an opportunity to encourage the people of Europe to play a more active role in the design and implementation of the policies that  affect us all. The European Citizens’ Initiative is one potential tool for achieving these goals, as Vice-President Maroš Šefčovič  told delegates at the seminar organised by the European Ombudsman on Tuesday 23 April.

Vice-President Maroš Šefčovič welcomed on Monday 22 April the President of the German Constitutional Court, Andreas Voßkuhle, as well as its Vice-President Kirchhoff, and judges Eichberger and Huber.


Solidarity, accountability the key to future of Europe


Europe needs to remain 'united in adversity' if it wants to emerge stronger from the current crisis stronger and better able to avoid future crises. This was the message from Vice-President Maroš Šefčovič at the Global Security Forum (Globsec) in Bratislava on Friday.


Successful first year for the European Citizens' Initiative


European citizens from the length and breadth of the EU have taken the opportunity to set the EU policy agenda over the last twelve months by signing one of the 14 European Citizens' Initiatives registered since the launch of the ECI on 1 April 2012.
