Trust, transparency and dialogue must be at the heart of Europe's future, V-P Šefčovič tells French deputies
Vice-President Maroš Šefčovič was in Paris on 26-27 June for a series of discussions focusing on France's role in the development of the European project and the Commission's efforts to improve transparency in lobbying.
Speaking to members of the European Affairs Committee of the Assemblée nationale on 26 June, V-P Šefčovič stressed the pivotal role that France had played in the creation and evolution of the EU over the last 60 years. But he also warned that the growing disillusionment with Europe would need be tackled by a new, more inclusive approach to policy making.
The European Commission's ongoing efforts to cut red tape have led to savings of more than €30bn over the last few years but there is still more that can be and make life easier for businesses across the EU, Vice-President Maroš Šefčovič told MEPs on 19 June.
Croatia is probably the best-prepared of all the countries that have joined the EU in recent years, according to Vice-President Maroš Šefčovič on an official visit there just two weeks before Croatia becomes the 28th EU Member State.
