German Constitutional Court at the Commission

Maroš Šefčovič welcomed the President of the German Constitutional Court, Andreas Voßkuhle.

Vice-President Maroš Šefčovič welcomed on Monday 22 April the President of the German Constitutional Court, Andreas Voßkuhle, as well as its Vice-President Kirchhoff, and judges Eichberger and Huber.

They held an exchange of views on the decision-making procedures in the EU, and V-P Šefčovič provided an insight into his day-to-day work with the European Parliament and the Council. He also shared his first experiences with the European Citizens' Initiative.

The delegation afterwards met the President of the Commission, José Manuel Barroso, and held a conference at the Commission's Legal Service and members of the Legal Services of the Council and the EP.

V-P Šefčovič stressed once again the importance of personal contacts between the various actors on EU and national stages.

The visit of the German Court officials to Brussels reciprocated an earlier visit to the Constitutional Court by V-P Šefčovič  in September 2011 following a meeting with Commission staff in Karlsruhe at the Institute for Transuranium Elements.
