  1. 11/05/2012 - The first European citizens' initiatives have been registered; the collection of signatures supporting them can now start. Find out here what these initiatives propose.

  4. 30/03/2012 - The minimum numbers of signatories per Member State have been modified to take into account the change in the basis for calculation (the number of Members of the European Parliament per Member State). Check the new numbers.
  5. 30/03/2012 - Corrigenda to the Regulation on the citizens' initiative will soon be published in 19 languages, in particular as regards the statement of support forms. This will also be incorporated in the Commission software for which a new release will take place this week. Potential organisers should make sure to use this updated version in their system

The European citizens' initiative allows one million EU citizens to participate directly in the development of EU policies, by calling on the European Commission to make a legislative proposal.
