Additional legal acts
These legal acts introduce additional relevant provisions. They complement the framework for the compilation and reporting of asylum and Dublin statistics.
- EU directive 2011/95 (qualification directive) on standards for the qualification of non-EU nationals and stateless persons as beneficiaries of international protection, for a uniform status for refugees or for persons eligible for subsidiary protection
- EU directive 2013/32 (asylum procedures directive) on common procedures for granting and withdrawing international protection
- EU directive 2013/33 (reception conditions directive) laying down standards for the reception of applicants for international protection
- EU regulation 604/2013 (Dublin regulation) establishing the criteria and mechanisms for determining the Member State responsible for examining an application for international protection lodged in one of the Member States by a third-country national or stateless person
- EU regulation 603/2013 (Eurodac regulation) on the access to the EU fingerprint database of asylum seekers
- EU directive 2001/55 on minimum standards for giving temporary protection in the event of a mass influx of displaced persons and on measures promoting a balance of efforts between Member States in receiving such persons and bearing the consequences thereof
- EU decision 2022/382 establishing the existence of a mass influx of displaced persons from Ukraine within the meaning of Article 5 of EU directive 2001/55
New framework for asylum system
The Pact on Migration and Asylum introduces a number of new legal acts for managing migration and establishing a common asylum system at EU level. It entered into force on 11 June 2024. The new legal acts will be applicable as of mid-2026 and will replace the currently existing legislation.
