Introducing FACE Entrepreneurship - new H2020 project

The Failure Aversion Change in Europe (FACE) project will be running a communication campaign in view of boosting ICT entrepreneurship in Europe by fighting against the fear of failure, through the means of a gamified process.

Dr. Vyacheslavs Kashcheyevs is a physicist and Associate Professor at the Faculty of Physics and Mathematics of the University of Latvia. He is also a partner of the SiAM FET Proactive project. In 2013, he was one of the 40 “Young Scientists’2013” invited to the Annual Meeting of the New Champions (the “summer Davos” by World Economic Forum). RAMCIP project: Robot Research to help people with mild cognitive impairment

Supporting elderly people with Mild Cognitive Impairment is key to helping them lead independent lives for longer. This is a labour-intensive process. RAMCIP (Robotic Assistant for MCI Patients at home) is a three-year research project funded by the European Commission under the Horizon2020 programme, which started in January 2015 to tackle this problem.

 
Information Day & Brokerage event on Horizon 2020 – Smart Cities and Communities 2015 Work Programme

A new call for proposals for Smart Cities and Communities under Horizon 2020 opened on 10 December 2014 (deadline for submitting proposals is 5 May 2015). It calls for proposals in two topics: SCC-01-2015: Smart Cities and Communities solutions integrating energy, transport and ICT sectors through lighthouse (large scale demonstration – first of the kind) projects and SCC-03-2015: Development of system standards for smart cities and communities solutions.

 
Future Internet Information Day (H2020 ICT-2015)

The European Commission is organising an Information Day presenting the "Future Internet" topics from the second ICT call, H2020-ICT-2015, published in October 2014. The deadline for the submission of proposals is 14 April 2015.

 
NADINE – internet links reveal patterns of interaction

How can we make predictions of people’s activities based on internet links? What can we learn from patterns of usage on the internet? The EU’s NADINE project is establishing algorithms and methods of analysing activities online that will shine a light on relationships between subjects, countries and even trading commodities.

 
DIADEMS – finding the sensor behind the sparkle

Diamonds – highly desirable lumps of carbon. But while their use to jewellers is well known, their hidden secrets are being revealed by the DIADEMS project. By modifying the structure of a diamond crystal, the project creates a new material that could be used in applications, from the creation of smart medicines to the next generation computers. The EU project is helping Europe stay at the forefront of research into atomic scale sensors.

 
m-RESIST: The first EU mHealth project for patients with treatment-resistant schizophrenia

With a €4 Million budget, the m-RESIST Project (Mobile Therapeutic Attention for Patients with Treatment Resistant Schizophrenia) aims to develop a therapeutic program that draws on the support of mobile devices and actively involves patients with treatment-resistant schizophrenia. This will make them capable of self-managing their illness, as well as support their carers.
