Horizon Impact Award 2020: 10 finalists short-listed

The European Commission has announced the 10 projects to reach the final stage of the second edition of Horizon Impact Award – a prize dedicated to EU-funded projects whose results have created societal impact across Europe and beyond. The prize acknowledges and rewards the most influential and impactful project results under Horizon 2020, the EU research and innovation programme, and its predecessor, the 7th Framework programme (FP7, 2007-2013).

EIC Pilot: €120 million to help bring next batch of top-class projects to market

The European Commission announced today 68 additional start-ups and SMEs selected for an overall funding of €120 million under the existing EIC pilot. The funding is awarded under the SME Instrument part of the EIC Pilot. The companies are for instance developing a blockchain-based online payment technology, new energy efficient screens and a solution to fight traffic noise.

Commissioner Moedas presents Horizon Europe to the largest science meeting on the continent

Today marks the beginning of the EuroScience Open Forum (ESOF2018) in Toulouse. This is the largest interdisciplinary science meeting in Europe that brings together over 4000 delegates from 80 countries. At this event Carlos Moedas, Commissioner for Research, Science and Innovation, will deliver a keynote speech on Horizon Europe, the new EU research and innovation programme proposed for 2020-2027.

 
Europe must step up its efforts on research and innovation

The European Council confirmed in Brussels yesterday the set-up of an European Innovation Council for market-creating innovation under the next EU long-term budget. The Council also invited the Commission to launch a new pilot initiative on breakthrough innovation within the remaining time of Horizon 2020.

 
EIC Pilot selects 242 innovative companies for funding

A total of 242 small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) from 30 countries have been selected for funding under the latest round of the SME Instrument. The companies will receive a total amount of €12 million to share between their projects to get their innovations faster on the market.
