Projects aiming to transform results from Pathfinder/FET funded projects into societal or economic innovations are sought for. The European Commission today announced how it will spend the last and biggest annual tranche - €11 billion - of the EU research and innovation funding programme Horizon 2020 in the final year of the programme.

EIT RawMaterials launches its first Accelerator Programme. This is a call for start-ups that consider they already have an innovative offering (at TRL4-6) and see the opportunity in rapidly developing this offering to the exploration, mining, mineral processing, metal, mineral and steel making and recycling industries as well as their suppliers of equipment and tools. For the next long-term EU budget 2021-2027, the Commission today proposed €100 billion for research and innovation. The new programme – Horizon Europe – will build on the achievements and success of the previous research and innovation programme (Horizon 2020) and keep the EU at the forefront of global research and innovation. Horizon Europe is the most ambitious research and innovation programme ever.

The call for the joint EIT RawMaterials and Veolia incubator programme is now open. U-START's ambition is to accelerate the time to market of innovative concepts through the support of EIT RawMaterials and Veolia in a “co-creation” mode. To be considered for the start-up program, you have to prove a societal and environmental benefit of your concept in the following three to five years. Apply before 22 June 2018.

At the beginning of May, the European Commission announced a proposed budget of €100 billion for the next EU Research and Innovation Framework Programme, called Horizon Europe (2021-2027).

Today the Commission presented its long-term budget proposal for the 2021-2027 period. An independent high level group of leading experts chaired by Pascal Lamy, President Emeritus of the Jacques Delors Institute, presented today to the Commission a new report on the future of EU research and innovation.

As part of the interim evaluation of Horizon 2020 the EU Research and Innovation Programme, a public stakeholder consultation was launched on 20 October 2016 and closed on 15 January 2017. The results of around 3500 responses and about 300 position papers will be presented at an event organised in cooperation with the European Economic and Social Committee on 28 April.
