Introducing FACE Entrepreneurship - new H2020 project

The Failure Aversion Change in Europe (FACE) project will be running a communication campaign in view of boosting ICT entrepreneurship in Europe by fighting against the fear of failure, through the means of a gamified process.

FACE Entrepreneurship is addressed to prospective IT European young entrepreneurs, with the aim at helping them to overpass and to confront the “path to follow” FACING the psychological and cultural barriers related to the fear of failure found along the decision process to be an entrepreneur. It will promote the necessary skills the aspiring entrepreneurs needs to have in order for them to materialize ideas in projects while fostering the relations between the different parts involved in the project; FACE aims at reaching out not only to individuals, but also companies and industry sectors, clusters, universities and public entities.

FACE will convey a common message in Europe, a motto that will help all current and future entrepreneurs understand that the lack of a risk-taking entrepreneurial culture is part of the reason why lots of great ideas have not been developed in Europe, and that accepting that failure is part of the learning curve.

The specific objectives of FACE Entrepreneurship are to:

  • Identify most common fears between European entrepreneurs.
  • Define the path they need to FACE up to start a new business. 
  • Encourage aspiring entrepreneurs and all those who are embarking on the path, by developing a gamification platform with interactive and audiovisual content.
  • Engage renowned entrepreneurs.
  • Organize 7 events in 7 EU member states
  • Prepare a Final Road Map identifying the principal entrepreneurs fears and measures to reduce these REAL obstacles.

The “path to follow” is shown on a digital multiplatform tool which is enriched with audio-visual content such as expert interviews and a web serie. The platform will be based on gamification dynamics in order to motivate and to foster the participation of the participants.

But it won’t just be a virtual connection. Seven offline events will be organized in seven different EU countries. They will bring together future entrepreneurs giving them the opportunity to interact with other entrepreneurs and also experts in the field who will encourage and work hand in hand with them on demystifying the concept of business failure.

FACE Entrepreneurship is a twenty month integrated communication campaign financed under the European Union´s Horizon 2020 research and innovation programme.

The Consortium is formed by Efecto Global and Nóvigo, companies that belong to the Spanish Communications Group, Grupo Secuoya, and counts on the support of Telefonica Open Future and Microsoft Bizspark.
