User guide > Data Browser > Data selection and display > How to save for later use

Having spent time on customising the data selection and changed the layout according to their needs, users may wish to save their specific view of a customised dataset, preserving all of the selections they have made.

Saving such a view of dataset applies to:

  • the settings currently selected in the selection panel
  • the format options currently selected in the 'Display settings'
  • the current sorting parameters, for example sorted from A-Z.

You can thus save this view to easily display your data in the same way at a later point in time.

How to save a specific view of a dataset?

In the right-hand side of the dataset, click on the 'Share / bookmark' button:

This will open a pop-up window with the following options

Sharing options

At the top of the window, users can find links to share the dataset on several social media platforms: (Facebook, X, Linkedln). There is also an option to send a link to the dataset via email.

Bookmark name

This option is only available we users are logged in. Any title or name can be typed into the open text field, for example 'My dataset on recent EU GDP’.

A success message informs users that this change was saved and the dataset is stored under this name in 'My datasets' under the tab 'Bookmarks'.

Where can I find my saved bookmarks?

Users need to be logged in when saving the bookmark to My datasets. If this was the case, users can access the bookmark by clicking on the Logged in button at the top of the browser window:

Users without an EU Login account can generate a bookmark link by clicking the Copy dataset URL button. This generates a unique link which is automatically copied to the clipboard. This link can then be copied into a document or pasted into a web browser.

In addition, the same link can be saved with the dataset name as the visible text.

Opening this link will show you your customised dataset. The bookmarks remains valid for an unlimited time period.

If you just would like to save a link to the default view of the dataset, you can also add the default view by clicking on the 'My datasets' button on the upper right hand side next to the dataset title.
