Communicating and disseminating statistics
Eurostat's publicly accessible database provides reliable, comparable data on Europe across various policy areas at the EU, euro area, national, regional, and European Free Trade Association (EFTA) levels.
Data are released according to an annual release calendar that ensures impartial access and timely updates. As with the database, Eurostat provides free access to a wide range of products and tools via our website, including news, publications, and Statistics Explained articles, as well as data visualisations and social media posts.
Eurostat’s communication and dissemination strategy for 2025-2029 focuses on clear, accessible dissemination and user engagement.
Impartial access
All users have equal, simultaneous access to statistical releases, and privileged pre-release access is limited, controlled, and publicly disclosed.
The Protocol on impartial access to Eurostat data for users outlines Eurostat’s responsibilities and the conditions governing pre-release access.

Copyright notice and free re-use of data
Eurostat's copyright policy permits the free use of Eurostat's data and publications, promoting transparency and accessibility. Users are required to attribute the source appropriately and indicate any changes made to the original material.
While most content is freely available, certain datasets or publications may have specific usage conditions which must be observed.
Microdata access
Some data used for European statistics remain confidential and are not published in any form, such as microdata that can lead to the identification of individuals.
Researchers may, however, access anonymised microdata under specific conditions.
