Tourism bookings via platforms grew in summer of 2025
Between July and September 2025, guests spent 398.1 million nights in short-term rental accommodation in the EU, booked through Airbnb, Booking or Expedia. The total number of guest nights in the third quarter of 2025 increased by 8.7% compared with the same quarter of 2024, and by 28.2% compared with the third quarter of 2023.
The largest monthly increase was recorded in July, with a 10.0% rise compared with the previous year, while August and September each registered an 8.0% growth rate.

This information comes from monthly data on short-stay accommodation offered via online platforms. Today, Eurostat published the data for the third quarter of 2025 at the national level and the second quarter of 2025 at the regional level.

Andalucia was the most popular region
The most popular regions for short-term rental accommodation booked via online platforms in the second quarter of 2025 were Andalucia (13.3 million nights) in Spain, Jadranska Hrvatska (9.6 million) in Croatia and Ile de France (9.0 million) in France.
The 20 most popular tourist regions were all located in just 5 EU countries: 6 regions were in Spain and 6 in France, 5 in Italy, 2 in Portugal, and 1 in Croatia.
