Overview

The statistical classification of products by activity (CPA), is the classification of products (goods and services) in the European Union. The CPA product categories are related to the economic activities of the statistical classification of economic activities (NACE).

Since 1993, several CPA versions have been developed. The newest is CPA version 2.2. It was adopted in 2024 and will be applicable to European Statistics for reference year 2025 onwards.

Transition

As set out in Article 2 of Commission delegated regulation 2024/3103, CPA version 2.2 is to be used for European statistics for reference year 2025 onwards with an exception for national accounts data which are to be transmitted later.

To support the changeover to CPA Ver. 2.2, a correspondence table between versions 2.1 and 2.2 of the CPA has been developed.

Based on this correspondence table, updated data transmission requirements have been developed for certain European Business Statistics; these changes are set out in Commission implementing regulation 2026/320.
