Why older women are much more exposed to the risk of poverty than older men
Europe is ageing. More than 130 million people in the European Union, or about a quarter of the total population, receive a pension. By and large, the national pension systems make sure that older citizens receive a stable income after the end of their working life and are not threatened by poverty. In fact, the risk of being poor in the EU is lower among the elderly above age 65 as compared to the population below age 65.

Angemessene Renten: Neuer Bericht fordert Maßnahmen, damit Menschen bis zum Renteneintrittsalter arbeiten können
Die Rentensysteme in Europa werden voraussichtlich in der Lage sein, auch künftigen Generationen von Ruhegeldempfängern angemessene Renten zu sichern, vorausgesetzt, die Mitgliedstaaten sorgen mit effizienten Maßnahmen dafür, dass möglichst viele Arbeitnehmerinnen und Arbeitnehmer eine Beschäftigung ausüben können, bis sie das gesetzliche Rentenalter erreicht haben. Dies wird in einem neuen Bericht zu angemessenen Renten dargelegt.

Bei einem Treffen zwischen der EU und Korea am 9. und 10. September zu den Themen Handel und nachhaltige Entwicklung wurde gemäß dem Freihandelsabkommen (FHA) EU Korea eine umfassende gemeinsame Erklärung zu Arbeitnehmerrechten verabschiedet.
