The European Child Guarantee has a new framework to better monitor children's access to education, healthcare and housing conditions
The European Child Guarantee, the first EU-level policy addressing childhood challenges and exclusion, has a new monitoring framework. This will be a helpful tool to examine the access of children to early childhood education, regular school-based activities, nutrition at school, healthcare, and adequate housing.

Commission reports shed light on research and innovation gaps to guide a digital and green transition
The European Commission has published two reports focusing on gaps of research and academic literature. They identify crucial aspects that need to be addressed in human and social sciences to guide Europe’s fair green and digital transition in terms of evidence-based science policy investment and to better focus on the relation of green and digital policies and the labour market.

Die Europäischen Kommission nimmt Abschied von Jacques Delors
Der ehemalige Kommissionspräsident Jacques Delors, eine wichtige Persönlichkeit in der Geschichte der europäischen Integration, starb am 27. Dezember. Er war 98 Jahre. Er war ein glühender Verfechter der europäischen Integration nach dem Zweiten Weltkrieg und der Architekt der Europäischen Union, wie wir sie heute kennen. Von Januar 1985 bis Ende 1994 war Delors Präsident der Europäischen Kommission. Seine drei Amtsperioden waren durch seinen rastlosen Einsatz für Freiheit, soziale Gerechtigkeit und Solidarität gekennzeichnet – Werte, die heute in unserer Union fest verankert sind.

Die Europäische Kommission hat zwei Beschlüsse zu Ungarn und zur Lage der Rechtsstaatlichkeit in Ungarn angenommen. Eine bezog sich auf die Justizreform und die andere auf den Konditionalitätsregelung für den Haushalt. Diesen Beschlüssen gingen verschiedene Verfahren voraus, die von der Kommission und dem Rat im Dezember 2022 eingeleitet wurden.
