These cities have demonstrated best practice and highlighted their commitment to ensure accessibility to urban life for persons with disabilities, including for built environment and public spaces (such as buildings, roads or parks), public transport, facilities and services, as well as information and communication technologies.

San Cristóbal de La Laguna wins 2024 Access City Award for advancing accessibility for persons with disabilities
Today, the Spanish city of San Cristóbal de La Laguna received the 2024 Access City Award, for its comprehensive approach to accessibility and its dedication to improving the quality of life of persons with disabilities. The award was presented this morning at the Access City Award Ceremony by European Commissioner for Equality Helena Dalli.

Access City Award 2024: shortlist of cities published
Five cities have been shortlisted for the 2024 Access City Award competition: Łódź, Saint-Quentin, San Cristóbal de la Laguna, South Dublin County and Tübingen.

Access City Award 2024: applications to be evaluated
Applications for the Access City Award 2024 competition opened on July 17 2023 and closed on 18 September 2023. They will now be evaluated by the National Juries who will shortlist the top three cities in each country. The shortlist will then be evaluated by the European Jury. This European award recognises cities which have undertaken outstanding work to become more accessible for persons with disabilities.

Equality: Commission launches 2023 Access City Award for most accessible cities in the EU

Luxembourg City wins 2022 Access City Award for becoming more accessible to persons with disabilities
The 2022 Access City Award goes to Luxembourg City. A jury of accessibility experts recognised the city for its wide range of innovative solutions and improvements to enhance accessibility for persons with disabilities.
