Regional concentration of S&T labour force in the EU - Issue number 9/2006 - Products Statistics in Focus

The Human Resources in Science and Technology (HRST) are concentrated in the European capital regions and in other European regions with stronger economic performance. Highest concentration of HRST measured as a share of total labour force is found in the regions Bruxelles-Capitale (64 %) and Île de France (62 %). Six of the top 15 EU regions with highest shares of HRST belongs to Germany. On the other hand, Germany has Europe's lowest share of young, 25-34 years old, HRST.
