Sigma is a magazine published by Eurostat aimed at people interested in European statistics. Sigma 2/2009 reports from the conference, Modern tools for business cycle analysis, which was held in Luxembourg at the end of 2008. Articles highlight some of the topics discussed at the conference, the main needs of official statistics for business cycle analysis and the challenges which face statisticians in today's turbulent economy.
