Eurostat regional yearbook is out

This year marks the 70th anniversary since the European statistical office, Eurostat, came into being. Regional statistics have been an essential part of Eurostat’s coverage for more than 50 years. The 2023 edition of the Eurostat regional yearbook honours this by showcasing a wide range of regional statistics that has grown in terms of topics and number of countries covered.
National figures alone cannot reveal the complex picture of what is happening at a more detailed level within the EU. Different locations, sizes, demographics and social and economic backgrounds make each and every region in the EU special. The Eurostat regional yearbook, the Statistical Atlas, as well as the Regions in Europe - interactive edition present exactly this, deeper and more focused data on EU regions.
This edition focuses on the European Year of Skills, designed to support individuals to get the right skills for quality jobs while helping businesses address skills shortages. Extended chapters on education and the labour market gauge how the different regions are faring.
All maps shown in the yearbook are also available in the Statistical Atlas as interactive maps, making it easier to check data in all regions, even the smallest ones: you can visit the updated map visualisation tool and zoom in on your region to see the details.

The Regions in Europe - 2023 interactive edition offers a wide variety of dynamic visualisations with short, objective texts, which allow you to get a deeper understanding of the social, economic and environmental situation across the EU regions.
