EEA-Lex on the EFTA website - A new version launched

The EEA-Lex is a helpful tool to find out about the legal basis for submission of data by EEA EFTA countries - Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway - to Eurostat.

On 10 June, a new version of the EEA-Lex was launched on the website of the European Free Trade Association (EFTA). The EEA-Lex is an interactive tool offering information on EU law that has been extended to the European Economic Area (EEA) or is under consideration for extension.

The new version is offering improved search functionalities and individual web pages for each legal act. From the results list, users are directed to fact sheets. These are now stable individual pages with a unique address (URL), which can also be found through Google and other search engines.

For an EU act incorporated into the EEA Agreement, the fact sheet includes links to both the EU act and the Joint Committee Decision (JCD) incorporating it. As a JCD may include amendments or derogations to the EU act, it is essential to consult it in order to see how EU law has been extended to the EEA.

The fourth EFTA country -Switzerland - is not a member of the EEA. The legal acts in force for Switzerland can be found in Annex A of the bilateral Swiss/EU Agreement in the field of statistics.
