33rd General Conference of the International Association for Research in Income and Wealth (IARIW)

Dear colleagues,

We have the pleasure to invite you to the 33rd General Conference of the International Association for Research in Income and Wealth (IARIW). This conference will take place at conference venue ‘De Doelen' in Rotterdam from 24 to 30 August 2014. Statistics Netherlands is proud to host this conference together with IARIW.

The IARIW conference is a bi-annual meeting of academics and statisticians, focusing on topics closely related to national accounts and income and wealth distribution. The conference targets participants from universities and statistics offices from across the globe, offering an almost unique opportunity for discussion and exchange of ideas between academics and statisticians.

Prominent keynote speakers already have confirmed there attendance; Bart van Ark (Executive Vice President & Chief Economist van de Conference Board) will give a keynote on "Measuring and Monitoring the Global Economy Since the Global Economic and Financial Crisis" and Marc Fleurbaey (Professor in Economics and Humanistic Studies, Princeton University) will give the Nancy and Richard Ruggles Memorial Lecture on "Beyond Income and Wealth". The former director of the Netherlands Institute for Social Research, professor Paul Schnabel, will give a keynote presentation on social inclusion in relation to economic growth and development. There are also many other prominent speakers and delegates from international institutes such as the OECD, the United Nations, Eurostat, the International Statistical Institute (ISI), prestigious universities and statistical offices from all over the world.

Two years ago the IARIW General Conference took place in Boston and there were more than 300 participants of over 30 nationalities, from Argentina to Australia and from China to Canada. We expect a similar setting for IARIW 2014 in Rotterdam.

The General Conference will last a full week, with 4 conference days and 1 day (Wednesday) to explore Rotterdam, our host city. There will be plenty of opportunity to meet colleagues, to discuss ideas, to expand your network and share experiences.  IARIW2014… an intellectual conference not to be missed!

Please visit our website for more information and registration www.cbs-events.nl/iariw. It goes without saying that you are welcome for the entire conference, but please be informed that it is also possible to register for single days if your schedule doesn't allow you to attend a full week.

Looking forward to meeting you in Rotterdam!

On behalf of the organizing committee of the 33rd IARIW General Conference
Statistics Netherlands & IARIW

Tjark Tjin-A-Tsoi (Director General of Statistics Netherlands)
