In 2021, the EU’s total sold production of high-tech products stood at €368 billion, the highest value of the 2011-2021 decade and an 11% increase compared with 2020 (€332 billion).
Much of this increase can be attributed to the growth in the pharmaceutical and electronics-telecommunications sectors. Pharmacy increased 25%, from €97 billion in 2020 to €122 billion in 2021. The electronics-telecommunications sector reported an increase of 13%, from €73 billion in 2020 to €82 billion in 2021.
