69% of EU citizens have heard of Eurostat, 67% agree with the statement “I trust statistics and data provided by Eurostat”, and 65% express their agreement with the statement “Eurostat provides impartial statistics and data that are objective and impartial”. These are the  main findings of a Eurobarometer survey on “Public awareness and trust in European statistics”, conducted in October 2023 on behalf of Eurostat.

In the survey, respondents were asked questions about their attitudes towards statistics and data, in general, as well as questions to test their knowledge of Eurostat. The online survey included 25 903 respondents of mixed socio-demographic backgrounds across the 27 Member States of the European Union. 

Eurobarometer surveys have been conducted regularly on behalf of the EU Institutions since 1974 to monitor the state of public opinion in Europe on issues related to the European Union.
