Up by 0.6% in both the euro area and the EU compared with June 2024

Overview

In June 2025, compared with May 2025, industrial producer prices increased by 0.8% in the euro area and by 0.7% in the EU, according to first estimates from Eurostat, the statistical office of the European Union. In May 2025, industrial producer prices fell by 0.6% in both the euro area and the EU.

In June 2025, compared with June 2024, industrial producer prices increased by 0.6% in both the euro area and the EU.

Monthly comparison by main industrial grouping and by Member State

In the euro area in June 2025, compared with May 2025, industrial producer prices

  • decreased by 0.2% for intermediate goods,

  • increased by 3.2% for energy,

  • increased by 0.1% for capital goods,

  • increased by 0.1% for durable consumer goods,

  • increased by 0.2% for non-durable consumer goods.

Prices in total industry excluding energy decreased by 0.1%.

In the EU, industrial producer prices

  • decreased by 0.2% for intermediate goods,

  • increased by 2.4% for energy,

  • increased by 0.2% for capital goods,

  • increased by 0.1% for durable consumer goods,

  • increased by 0.2% for non-durable consumer goods.

Prices in total industry excluding energy increased by 0.1%.

The highest monthly increases in industrial producer prices were recorded in Spain (+3.1%), Italy (+2.2%) and Portugal (+1.7%). The largest decreases were observed in Estonia (-3.8%), Ireland (-2.8%) and Sweden (-1.4%).

Annual comparison by main industrial grouping and by Member State

In the euro area in June 2025, compared with June 2024, industrial producer prices

  • decreased by 0.1% for intermediate goods,

  • decreased by 0.1% for energy,

  • increased by 1.7% for capital goods,

  • increased by 1.5% for durable consumer goods,

  • increased by 2.0% for non-durable consumer goods.

Prices in total industry excluding energy increased by 0.9%.

In the EU, industrial producer prices

  • increased by 0.1% for intermediate goods,

  • decreased by 0.9% for energy,

  • increased by 1.7% for capital goods,

  • increased by 1.3% for durable consumer goods,

  • increased by 2.2% for non-durable consumer goods.

Prices in total industry excluding energy increased by 1.1%.

The highest annual increases in industrial producer prices were recorded in Bulgaria (+8.4%), Greece (+5.0%) and Italy (+3.9%). The largest decreases were observed in Estonia (-5.2%), Lithuania (-2.9%) and Portugal (-2.8%).

Revisions and timetable

Compared with data issued in the News Release of 4 July 2025, the monthly percentage decreases for May 2025 remained unchanged at -0.6% in both the euro area and the EU. The annual percentage increases also remained unchanged at +0.3% in the euro area and at +0.4% in the EU.

Methods and definitions

The index of producer prices shows (in the national currency of the country concerned) changes in the ex-works sale prices of all products sold on the domestic market, excluding imports. Euro area and EU indices refer to overall weighted price changes. The figures are not calendar day or seasonally adjusted.

Total industry covers NACE rev.2 sections B to D + E36.

Geographical information

The euro area (EA20) includes Belgium, Germany, Estonia, Ireland, Greece, Spain, France, Croatia, Italy, Cyprus, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, the Netherlands, Austria, Portugal, Slovenia, Slovakia and Finland.

The European Union (EU27) includes Belgium, Bulgaria, Czechia, Denmark, Germany, Estonia, Ireland, Greece, Spain, France, Croatia, Italy, Cyprus, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Hungary, Malta, the Netherlands, Austria, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovenia, Slovakia, Finland and Sweden.
