Geographic accessibility
Datasets on accessibility are presented on a 1km resolution grid. They rely on transport time measures using road transport network from populated places to other places of interest, usually a specific type of service.
Currently, Eurostat offers 2 datasets on the accessibility of services, which are are described below.
There are no specific download rules for the datasets shown below. However, please refer to our general copyright notice and licence provisions, which must be complied with. Permission to download and use these data is subject to these rules being accepted.
The accessibility indicators often rely on data extracted from official national registers. They may contain inconsistencies, inaccuracies, and gaps, due to the heterogeneity of the input national data. If you would like to contribute by suggesting alternative data sources or if you notice any issues, please contact Eurostat's user support.
This dataset describes accessibility to main healthcare services as
- driving time from each populated 1km cell to the nearest healthcare service
- the average driving time to the three nearest services.
It is available for the reference years 2020 and 2023.
See the documentation and metadata for more information (dataset structure, attributes, data sources, reference dates, etc.).
