Education and training
Eurostat and the ESS rely on highly skilled official statisticians who can meet the challenges posed by a rapidly developing data ecosystem, new technologies and data sources. These skills can be obtained and maintained by training existing employees, and by attracting new people.
At the European level, 2 initiatives are offered to promote education and training in official statistics.
European Statistical Training Programme (ESTP)
The ESTP programme is tailored to meet the specific training needs of the European Statistical System. Courses offered for staff members in the statistical offices focus on harmonised European concepts and legislation, as well as the national implementation practices.
European Master in Official Statistics (EMOS)
EMOS is a network of Master programmes providing post-graduate education in official statistics at the European level. EMOS is a joint project of universities and data producers in Europe, with a network of over 30 programmes in around 20 countries.
