Promoting innovation and entrepreneurship in the Croatia-Serbia cross-border region

The XBIT project focused on developing a favourable environment for innovation, the IT industry, entrepreneurship, job creation, talent retention and increasing the number of skilled young professionals in the Croatia-Serbia cross-border area. The most significant results have been the creation of a cross-border network of ICT stakeholders, designing and implementing educational, motivational and networking programmes, and establishing Fab Labs and a Mobile Lab.

A win for refugees and Europe’s ageing population

The ‘In de zorg, uit de zorgen’ (Into care to be carefree) Interreg project integrated more than 140 refugees and immigrants in the healthcare sector in the Meuse-Rhine Euroregion. In doing so, the initiative responded to two challenges: integrating refugees and migrants into European society, and the shortage of healthcare workers to look after Europe’s ageing population.

Energy@School: guardians of ‘smart energy’ schools

Youth will play a crucial role in Europe’s transition to a carbon neutral continent. Energy@School trained pupils to become ‘junior energy guardians’. This awareness-raising approach resulted in significant energy efficiency improvements for the participating schools and can easily be rolled out in other regions. The project has shown that giving youth greater responsibility can be as effective as expensive renovation measures.

Better Polish rail connections to strengthen Baltic-Adriatic transport corridor

Phase two of an EU-funded project will complete the construction of some 16.97 kilometres of double-track, non-electrified railway line in the Pomorskie region of Poland. The line aims to significantly improve passenger services in the region and help to fully integrate air and urban transport in the cities of Gdańsk and Gdynia.

I-Know-How project helps cancer patients in 2 Seas region to keep working

A cancer diagnosis is a huge disruption in someone’s life. If they are working, their colleagues and employer are also affected. By creating tools to help all concerned parties navigate the practical and emotional difficulties a cancer diagnosis brings, the I-KNOW-HOW project is ensuring that cancer patients in the 2 Seas region remain at work for longer during their treatment, and that they can return to work sooner. This allows them to keep earning money, maintain social contacts and retain a sense of control over their lives and work. For employers and governments, it means reduced costs.

The Belvue4Starters project aims to offer large numbers of young adults in Brussels the opportunity to take a different approach to looking for ‘work’ and grow personally to become the ‘directors’ of their own lives. The project contributes to the development of the social economy of the Molenbeek. The project develops a series of programs for young people in Brussels focusing on personal development and economic integration.
