Patent statistics - Issue number 17/2008 - Products Statistics in Focus

The first part of the publication shows the most recent figures for patent applications to the EPO and patents granted by the USPTO; furthermore, it explains the new methodological concept. The second part takes a closer look at foreign ownership of patent applications and patents. The last part deals with triadic patent family data, showing a breakdown by main economies for the years 1996 and 2001. Some additional information on the recent positive developments of the Reform of the European patent system is also provided.
