Classification of products by activity v2.2 now official

In the past years, Eurostat has worked with partners in the European Statistical System and stakeholders (European Central Bank, European Commission services and European interest associations) on updating key European economic classifications, the classification of economic activities (NACE) and the classification of products by activity (CPA), to reflect the considerable evolution of the EU economy over the past 15 years. 

Last year, the new version of NACE (NACE revision 2.1) was published, and now, following contributions from various European stakeholders, the new CPA Version 2.2  has been established. 

This version of the CPA includes several new positions to reflect products resulting from emerging forms of economic activity but also retained the structure of the classification in areas where change was unnecessary.

CPA Version 2.2 will apply to European statistics from 2025 onwards and can be accessed in the Official Journal and as linked open data.
