2 April marks the International Fact-Checking Day, and Eurostat provides a range of essential media support services to help journalists and fact-checkers access reliable data for accurate reporting. If you are using Eurostat’s data in your work, here’s how we can assist you:

  • Stay informed: add Eurostat’s release calendar to your calendar application to always keep track of key data releases and articles relevant to your field. You can also request to receive the weekly calendar by email by contacting eurostat-pressoffice@ec.europa.eu.
  • Access recent data findings: sign up for the euro indicators, which provide timely general economic statistics on the EU, euro area, and EU countries. Daily news items provide a glimpse into the newly released data.
  • Expand your knowledge and engage with experts: participate in Eurostat’s training sessions for journalists and fact-checkers that are announced on our social media channels (Facebook, LinkedIn, Instagram and X). You can also learn directly from Eurostat’s experts through our podcast series Stats in a Wrap and our thematic webinars, which provide valuable context to topical data.
  • Ask for tailored support: if you need specific information, Eurostat’s media support team can provide personalised data extractions and explanations, with fast responses generally within 24 hours to help you meet deadlines. To make such a request, contact the media support team at eurostat-mediasupport@ec.europa.eu.

On 15 May, a training event will be held to provide guidance on accessing data and associated resources from the Eurostat website. It is possible to register for the event here.
