The 9th New Techniques and Technologies for Statistics (NTTS) conference will open today in Brussels under the motto “Increasing data relevance for all”.
The NTTS conferences are organised by Eurostat every two years. They bring together for three days international experts on new techniques and methods for official statistics.
In the next few days the participants will also discuss the impact of new technologies on statistical collection, production and dissemination systems.
In parallel, the first EU Big Data Hackathon is also being held in Brussels. Over 22 teams from European National Statistical Institutes are competing to develop "the best data product combining official statistics and big data to support policy makers in one pressing policy question facing Europe".
