We are excited to announce the results of the European Statistics Competition 2025, held in the 2024-2025 school year.

Nearly 27 000 students from 21 countries signed up for the eighth edition of this statistical literacy contest, the highest number since the start of the competition.

After a challenging national phase, the winning teams from each participating country competed in the European final. The assignment was to make a two-minute video: contestants had to investigate whether GenZ is changing the world.

A jury of European experts assessed 68 submissions and chose the top 5 videos in the 14-16 (34 submissions) and 16-18 age groups (34). The students impressed the jurors with their creativity and the quality of their work.

Winners of the 14-16 age group

Team D.A.D (Lithuania) took the first prize in the junior age group (14-16) with a science-fiction inspired video on the differences between the generation Z and the older generations. The jury particularly appreciated the acting and overall production, as well as the excellent use of data and visualizations.

The second place went to team FARAO (Germany). Their creative and professionally executed video examines the life of generation Z in Germany and Europe.

The artists from team MYStat (Italy) came third with an original and interesting presentation format, simulating a podcast.

The teams IMC-ST (Romania) and PIERCE_1 (Greece) obtained fourth and fifth place, respectively.

Winners of the 16-18 age group

In the senior age group (16-18), the first prize went to team TEAMXII2 (Portugal) with their video focusing on the climate change facing generation Z. The jury was impressed by the excellent directing and acting from the three main characters, as well as well-designed infographics.

Team ARCTAN (France) was second with a very dynamic video shot on several different locations with clearly presented data visualisations.

Team LAGOAS1 (Spain) took the third place with the video that seamlessly integrated data into the narrative, highlighting interesting topics.

Teams ALPHA17 (Luxembourg) and LESWEBERS (France) completed the top five by taking the fourth and fifth place, respectively.

The award ceremony will take place on 24 June 2025, at 12:00 CEST, in Lisbon. You will be able to watch it online.
