Global conference on measuring new forms of employment
Eurostat and the International Labour Organization organised a global conference on ‘Measuring New Forms of Employment’, which took place on 4 and 5 July 2024 at the Square in Brussels.
The event aimed to share current experiences in measuring new forms of employment and provide input for the future development of definitions, standards, and data capturing rapid changes in the labour market.
Priority areas of discussion were as follows:
- new forms of employment
- digital platform employment
- artificial intelligence and the labour market
- data needs on skills, green and digital transition, informal employment, and labour shortages.
The conference brought around 400 high-profile participants from all over the world together, including policymakers, public officials working in policy development, labour statisticians, data scientists, researchers, labour force analysts, policy users, and stakeholders.
