On 1 June, the thematic section on “Postal statistics” will be deleted from the Eurostat website. Since 2013, Eurostat has no longer been responsible for this data collection.
Postal statistics, covering years 2012 to the present, are now collected and released by the Directorate-General for Internal Market, Industry, Entrepreneurship and SMEs (DG GROWTH) and are available via their Postal Services website.
This website contains a lot of interesting information. For example, did you know that the EU postal sector accounts for €91 billion or 0.72% of EU GDP? Or that prices for a standard letter are lowest in Malta (€ 0.26) and highest in Italy (€2.8). Check it out!
