Generation and treatment of municipal waste - Issue number 31/2011 - Products Statistics in Focus

Municipal waste generation in Europe has slowed down and stabilised at about 520 kg per capita since 2002

This publication shows the development of municipal waste generation and treatment from 1995 to 2009. It includes an analysis of the evidence on decoupling, i.e. on breaking the link between the production of material wealth and the production of waste. Furthermore, different strategies taken by countries to treat municipal waste will be shown.
