An analysis of building construction based on building permits statistics - Issue number 55/2010 - Products Statistics in Focus

Data on building permits are collected in the framework of short-term business statistics (STS). The objective of the building permits indices is to assess the future development of building construction. Since 2008, building permits have been included in the list of the principal European economic indicators (PEEIs). This publication first provides an overview of the development of the building permits indices over recent years. In the second part, the publication provides a brief analysis of the building production index and building area permits index for a selection of Member States.
